A few years ago while in France, I went to the Notre Dame De La Garde in Marseille during mass.

When I walked in, 30–40% of the worshippers attending were African. One of the ladies I spoke with after mass amusingly told me that Africans are the ones sustaining Christianity in France.

The Catholic Church has even declared it their mission to reorient much of their evangelism & focus towards the African continent. Christianity (Catholicism & Protestantism) is growing rapidly in Africa. And the high birth rates in Africa (for both Christians & Muslims) only further fuels the growth.

When the Pope visited the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 1 million people flooded into the area to see him. To put that into perspective, Kinshasa has a population of 17 million. The government even declared a public holiday so that state employees would be able to attend in person or watch on TV.

Protestantism is also enjoying its own glory age in Africa. Protestant churches & schools are sprouting like wildfire in Central & Western Africa.

If anything, I think Africa will be the new “Rome” so to speak. Christianity will absolutely decline in Europe, but also in the Middle East. The real area that you should be focusing on is Africa!
