Why didn't the Chinese Communist Party rename itself by removing the word 'Communist' in its name, even though Deng Xiaoping openly admitted that Communism was a failure and opened Chinese economy to America in 1978?

Rubbish, in fact.

China under Mao had succeeded. Deng, Nixon and Kissinger all knew it.

Nixon had been behind the lies about the US losing China because of US traitors, and knew it was nonsense. Dropped the 20+ years of pretending that the Taiwan regime was the real China.

Deng got Mao’s more radical policies rejected. But maintained faith in the basic changed that had been made, with him as part of the leadership for most of it.

Why is Quora now flooded with CCP propaganda?

It really depends on your perspective. Also, be warned there will be more.

The bigger question is why doesn’t Quora have MORE Chinese users and propaganda. There would be a LOT more Chinese videos and content on the site if they didn’t use local services instead.

Right now the majority of Chinese people feel more comfortable reading and writing in Mandarin. Most of them are on Zhihu(知乎) rather than Quora. Based on the last public figures Quora has more users (300 million vs 220 million) but this is world wide. If all of the Chinese users came across at the same time then there would be one Chinese view for every other view. This would drown out a lot of the different viewpoints.

That being said a number of Chinese people speak English and want to be on Quora for different reasons. Just like any country, they have different opinions and a spread of ideas but are often (but not always) supportive of their own country.

Democrats and Republicans disagree on a lot of things but most of them agree that America is “the best”.

China is similar. A lot of users are nationalists and will support China. Some think China can do no wrong. Some think that China is backwards and doing a lot of things poorly BUT even if that is the case lots of the questions on Quora are just straight-up propaganda that just isn’t true which makes them defend China as well.

As the English level in China improves expect more and more Chinese users on every platform you use with their viewpoint which isn’t the same as yours. There will also be more Indian as well. Slowly the American viewpoint will be drowned out and it will mainly be Indians and Chinese. This will slowly happen to virtually the entire Internet unless they stay in regional silos.
