Why didn't the Chinese Communist Party rename itself by removing the word 'Communist' in its name, even though Deng Xiaoping openly admitted that Communism was a failure and opened Chinese economy to America in 1978?
Factually mistaken.
Rubbish, in fact.
China under Mao had succeeded. Deng, Nixon and Kissinger all knew it.
Nixon had been behind the lies about the US losing China because of US traitors, and knew it was nonsense. Dropped the 20+ years of pretending that the Taiwan regime was the real China.
Deng got Mao’s more radical policies rejected. But maintained faith in the basic changed that had been made, with him as part of the leadership for most of it.

Deng Xiaoping was a true “dye in the wool Communist.” He clearly believed in the ideologies but he also recognized, especially after the Tiananmen Square incident, the need to give the people a better choice then what they had, an opportunity to express their dissatisfaction.
Being a pragmatist, understood the need for economic reforms and opportunities without sacrificing the ideology, the supremacy and the leadership of the CCP/CPC.
To that extent, he was willing to establish Special Economic Zones, invite foreigners to come, teach, invest and build factories in these areas, allowing selected individuals to work and earn a far greater wages in the foreign built trade schools and factories in an effort to bring China into the modern setting with a populous eager for economic opportunities.
An exchange of political rights for opportunity in economic development and acquisition of material wealth without sacrificing the supremacy of the CCP/CPC, “Socialism with a Chinese twist.”
Regardless of the benefits, the care and concern that the CCP/CPC shows its people, the basic aspect of the political party, its ideology, function and operation remains as it was, Chinese Communism. “A wolf in sheep's skin, is still a wolf.”
Ever since then the Chinese people have enjoyed the opportunities of what economic wealth and material acquisitions brings all the while complacent to but supportive of the government in matters which do not affect them directly or endangers their effort to enjoy the benefits that their economy provides them.
The government is also very careful to ensure that the people enjoy the economic benefits at the same time ensuring that any dissention or dissatisfaction with the government is quickly put down with little public attention or under the guise of a national emergency to ensure full and unquestioned compliance by the populous.
