If socialism is so bad, how did the Soviet Union produce so many scientists?

答主:Stepan Serdyuk, a Russian for life

Education.
教育。

The Soviet Union, admittedly, wasn’t a paradise, nor socialism was a magic wand to solve every human problem. Obviously, there were some things that were worse than under the competitive ideologies - but, at the same time, some things were definitely better.

And one of these things was education.

Free, standard, universally available education.

No matter if you were a man or a woman, a white Russian or an ethnic minority, a son of an important Party official or a peasant from a small village somewhere deep in Siberia, you could - scratch that, should’ve - apply for it and receive it in full. This is why the USSR had such a great number of scientists, doctors, engineers, physicists; of any gender, race, or social background. It did stagger in some other areas, but in this regard, it was truly great.
